Last month Vimeo released the shortlists and opened voting for the 2012 Vimeo Festival + Awards. Now the polls are closed and the shortlists have been narrowed down to the top four videos in each of the 13 categories. Vimeo viewers are invited to check them out on the Vimeo Awards website.
The award show will take place in NYC on June 7-9 (get your tickets here), but, whether or not you are attending, the nominated films are well worth a watch.
The thirteen categories include Fashion, Animation, Action Sports, Remix, Experimental, Series, Narrative, Documentary, Lyrical, Music Video, Captured, Motion Graphics and Advertising.
Fashion, Action Sports, Lyrical and Advertising are new to the Vimeo Awards, so since it would be a bit of an overload to share all of the nominated videos with you here we decided to share a few from the new categories. You can view the rest at vimeo.com/awards/finalists.
A video in the fashion category is described as “A video showcasing a fashion or beauty collection or trend with moving image.” Check out a couple of the finalists’ videos below and watch the rest here.
A video in the action sports category is described as “A video that uses filmmaking to creatively showcase action sports.” Here are a couple for you to feast your eyes on and you can check out the rest here.
The lyrical category is made up of videos that “showcase the natural world or personal experience using a distinct creative style.” Check out two of the finalists below and the rest here.
A video in the advertising category is described as “A short video commissioned by a brand or advertising agency to promote a company, product or service.” Once again, here are a couple and you can check out the rest here.
