'Few' Layoffs In USA TODAY, USA Weekend Merger
Gannett Co. today announced that it was combining the staffs of USA Weekend and the “Your Life” section of USA TODAY. USA Weekend is the paper’s Sunday magazine, while “Your Life” is a women’s-centric section of the paper, with health, parenting, and lifestyle verticals.
Minonline reports that there were “few job eliminations” as a result of the merger, according to USAW president/publisher Chuck Gabrielson. “This is a strategy of growth, not retrenchment,” he told min.
The motivation: getting USAW access to the strong digital part of the “Your Life” brand.
