Feedly Takes Google Reader Replacement Live

Feedly today launched a Web RSS reader to replace Google’s, which the company will retire on July 1.

Previously, Feedly worked as a browser extension which wasn’t available for Opera or Internet Explorer.

“This was one of the most requested features, and we are thrilled to deliver on this today,” the company said in a blog post, referring to  user survey results.

Google’s move to kill Reader, while unpopular with users, has proved a boon for Feedly, which tripled its user count from 4 million prior to Google’s announcement to 12 million users at the end of May.
