FBN’s Cody Willard to Pen Premium Newsletter for MarketWatch

cody_headshot3.jpg Dow Jones’ primarily free financial news site MarketWatch is venturing into subscription content with a new service called “Revolution Investing,” featuring golden-haired Fox Business personality Cody Willard. Willard is perhaps best known for co-hosting FBN’s “Happy Hour,” a business talk show filmed at a bar. (The cross-pollination is no surprise; both FBN and the Dow Jones network, including MarketWatch, are owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp.)

It remains to be seen whether MarketWatch’s readers are willing to shell out the $199 annual subscription price ($99 introductory offer) for insight from the long-haired, idiosyncratic Willard. Sayeth Cody in today’s press release:

The good news is that these tumultuous times create money-making investment opportunities that we’ll likely never see again in our lifetimes. The bad news is that navigating these brave new worlds is going to be wrought with danger and difficulty. I look forward to identifying the best opportunities, both short-term trading as well as long-term investments, for Revolution Investing members.

Some stocks will turn hefty profits; some will offer only danger and difficulty. Given that many investors are wholly terrified by the stock market in general, it’ll be interesting to see if insights like this are worth the extra cash to MarketWatch readers.
