Fashion Publicist Discusses Her Battle With ALS

In the March issue of Marie Claire, Sarah Geary, former PR exec for luxury leather company Mulberry, talks about how she discovered she has amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as ALS and “Lou Gehrig’s disease.” The disease, more common in men than women, causes the degeneration and death of motor neurons that control muscle movement and even swallowing and breathing.

The gut-wrenching story – Geary is the mom of two small children, and doctors believed her early symptoms were caused by a form of Lyme disease – includes information about the disease, how her family and friends are coping, and how you can help.
