Facebook is celebrating its 13th birthday Saturday (Feb. 4) with the return of its Friends Day videos, as well as some new features.
Much like when they debuted last year, the social network’s Friends Day videos will contain photos of users’ memories with their friends, pre-populated by Facebook, and users will be able to edit those image choices and, naturally, share their Friends Day videos with their friends via Timeline.
Facebook Messenger joins the Friends Day party this year with the addition of friendship-themed GIFs.
The social network also hosted a Friends Day event at its headquarters in Menlo Park, Calif., and product manager Oren Hod provided more details in a Newsroom post:
This week, we hosted an event here at Menlo Park. Members of our community who’ve been using groups to connect with friends around the world joined us to share their stories. We spoke with them about the powerful impact of friendship and how technology makes it easier than ever to build truly global communities.
