Fresh from a major upgrade to sharing and tagging, Facebook appears to already be testing yet another upgrade of news feed filtering.

Call this newest test the flip-side of last week’s upgrade that lets people fine tune exactly who they want to share content with.

Some users see a text box (an example appears to the right) showing options for slicing and dicing the news feed beyond most recent and top news.

There are three selections in the test view:

  • Life events: Births, jobs and other news
  • Posts: Status updates, photos and more
  • Other activity: Day-t0-day stuff like check-ins and comments

Apparently Facebook has tested similar filters for the news feed, including allowing people to choose amounts of different types of content that they want to see.

The site last rolled out an upgrade of the news feed filters toward the beginning of the year.
