Facebook Is Pulling Several Little-Used Boost Post Options

The changes will occur Sept. 15

Facebook is streamlining its boost post advertising feature by eliminating several little-used options from the mix.

The social network said in a blog post announcing the move, “Historically, businesses have been able to boost any page post type on Facebook, including notes, life events, shared Friendsversaries and even relationship status updates. However, advertisers rarely promoted these post types, and when they did, results were not as strong as results with our more popular ad formats.”

Facebook said the following boost post options will be removed Sept. 15:

  • Share of products from shops
  • Share of a story about a for-sale post
  • Check-in on a map, at a restaurant or in a city
  • Share of a note
  • Share of a poll
  • Place recommendations
  • Share of cultural moments
  • Share of comments
  • Change of a profile picture
  • File upload or share
  • Sports event
  • Video or image uploaded through Facebook Camera
  • Attendance for an event
  • Share of a video playlist
  • Status on watching a television show, movie or other types of programming
  • Post from an application posted to a page’s Timeline
  • Political endorsement
