Tag Notifier Emails Users About Facebook Photo Tags

Have you ever looked at a photo on Facebook and wished that one of the people in the photo who wasn't tagged was? The new app Tag Notifier can't tag the photo for you, but it can let you know if someone else does.

Have you ever looked at a photo on Facebook and wished that one of the people in the photo who wasn’t tagged was? The new application Tag Notifier can’t tag the photo for you, but it can let you know if someone else does.

Here’s how it works: After using Facebook Connect to log in, users input the URL of the Facebook photo, and submit it to Tag Notifier. Should any further tagging be applied to the selected photo, the user will be notified via email.

Or, as Tag Notifier says on its homepage, “Your friend uploaded a photo with someone cute, and you want to know who they are, but they are not tagged yet. We’ll let you know when someone is tagged!”

A long shot? Perhaps, but who are we to stand in the way of romance?

Facebook revamped its photo-tagging process in May, allowing users to include users on their friends lists who had not chosen to opt out, as well as brand pages, which could theoretically lead to more tags being applied to photos.

However, it seems like most users tag their photos when posting them, and don’t generally revisit them to add more tags; even when others appearing in the images tag people, it tends to occur pretty soon after the uploading.

So we wonder how useful Tag Notifier will be.

Readers, do you think Tag Notifier could be a useful app?
