Just days after opening its first office in the Philippines, Facebook did the same in Malaysia.

Facebook vice president, Asia-Pacific Dan Neary announced the opening of the new office in a Facebook post (embedded below), saying that the social network has 18 million monthly active users in the country, or 81 percent of its total Internet users. He wrote:

Malaysia is one of the leaders in digital adoption and innovation across Southeast Asia. Be it mobile penetration or time spent on smartphones, Malaysians are leading the charge in the region, and the country’s digital transformation has positively impacted both people and businesses.

There’s never been a more exciting time for Facebook and Malaysia. We look forward to more conversations with businesses in the coming days, and the opportunity to continue growing together.
