Facebook NOT Launching App Payment System at f8
While there has recently been some speculation that Facebook will announce its Platform payments system at the 2nd annual f8 developer conference in San Francisco next week, Inside Facebook has learned from reliable sources that this is indeed not the case. While Facebook is hard at work on a payments system for application developers, it’s simply not ready to launch yet.
Facebook started taking developer applications to participate in a payments beta program last December. When ready, the Platform payments system will make it much easier for developers to build commerce-based revenue streams into their applications.
