Facebook is about to reach 700 million users worldwide thanks to the social network's surge in popularity in international markets, according to data from Facebook statistics site Socialbakers.
Brazil had the highest increase in Facebook user growth, with more than 1.9 million new users, adding up to a total of over 19 million users—an increase of 11 percent. Rounding out the top five were Indonesia, the Philippines, Mexico, and Argentina.
Business Insider noted that it’s interesting that so much of Facebook's growth has been in Brazil and India because both countries, apart from having huge populations, already have other social networks.
