Facebook is a little blue today — but it’s not a bug, it’s a feature. The site announced that the Like buttons and Share buttons have been redesigned, showcasing Facebook’s shade of blue. The new design will be rolled out in the coming weeks.
The Huffington Post, Hotels.com and JustGiving have already been using the new buttons with success.
Facebo0k introduced the Like button in 2010, and together with the Share button, they are viewed more than 22 billion times a day across more than 7.5 million websites.
Facebook’s Ray He announced the redesigned buttons in a blog post:
Today, we’re introducing a new design for both Like and Share to help people share more great content across the web. We’re already seeing a favorable increase in Likes and Shares with the new design and will be rolling these buttons out to everyone in the coming weeks. If you are currently using the old Like button, you’ll be automatically upgraded to the new design as part of our roll out. We’ve also made it easy for you to include the Like and Share buttons side by side and the Share button by itself.
