Facebook Hires TV Veteran to Run U.S. Sales

Former Univision exec David Lawenda arrives as video plans heat up

Facebook has hired longtime TV sales executive David Lawenda to serve as vp, global sales, in the U.S.

Lawenda, who served as president of Univision before being ousted roughly a year ago, will report directly to Carolyn Everson, Facebook's vp of global marketing solutions. The TV vet previously held sales posts at  SpikeTV, UPN and Turner.

It's easy to see why Facebook is looking to nab a sales executive from the traditional media world at this juncture.
