Facebook’s Ninth Data Center Will Be Built in Papillion, Neb.

The facility could be up and running as early as 2020

Facebook announced the location for data center No. 9: Papillion, Neb.

The facility in Nebraska will join eight other Facebook data centers that are currently operational or under construction— Los Lunas, N.M.; Fort Worth, Texas; Altoona, Iowa; Prineville, Ore.; and Forest City, N.C., in the U.S., and Odense, Denmark; Clonee, Ireland; and Luleå, Sweden, in Europe.

Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the new data center in a Facebook post:

We just announced that we’re building our ninth data center in Papillion, Neb.
