Developers, take note: The default migration of all pages to timeline at the end of the month doesn’t automatically upgrade canvas applications into the new format.
A spokesperson for Facebook said:
Canvas apps aren’t automatically being transferred to timeline apps.
Pages cannot currently use timeline apps as a page. We encourage developers to continue to create apps (for example canvas apps) for their pages.
However, Facebook has made it easier for administrators to add tab applications to pages, by simply making this an option in pull-down menus on the respective tab app’s page.
Said menu appears upon clicking the gear icon located to the right of the “like” button and “go to app” on the tab app’s page.
Facebook updated its help center article explaining how to add apps to a page:
To add an app to your Facebook page, first go to the app about page for the app you’d like to add. If the app is available to be added to your page, you’ll see an add to page link on the lower left-hand column.
Note that certain apps may not be available for pages. If you have any questions about those apps, please use the contact developer link in the app’s about page to inquire.
Readers, what’s your attitude toward timeline for pages and profiles?
