Facebook Calls for Philippines Typhoon Donations at Top of News Feed

Teams with Red Cross and asks for $10

Facebook is asking for $10 donations to the American Red Cross at the top of every user's News Feed to help those in need for assistance after the destructive Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. The catastrophe has left nearly 600,000 people displaced, per several reports, and at least 2,275 dead, according to The Wall Street Journal.

This pro bono measure marks the first time Facebook has given the top-of-the-feed "notifications" real estate to such a relief effort.
