Facebook Buys Instagram

Facebook has bought the photosharing app company Instagram for reportedly a $1 billion. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the news in a blog post on Facebook in which he explained that he hopes to spread the app to more people around the world.

Here is more from the blog post: “We think the fact that Instagram is connected to other services beyond Facebook is an important part of the experience. We plan on keeping features like the ability to post to other social networks, the ability to not share your Instagrams on Facebook if you want, and the ability to have followers and follow people separately from your friends on Facebook.”

GalleyCat has shared a video from New York Times Magazine contributing writer Clive Thompson who explains why writers should use the photo-sharing app in their daily lives.
