Facebook Apps Leaked Users Profile Data Since 2007

If you’ve ever played Farmville or Scrabble on Facebook, then you may have given advertisers access to your account. According to Internet security firm Symantec, Facebook has accidentally been leaking profile data for years.

The Symantec blog explains: “Third parties, in particular advertisers, have accidentally had access to Facebook users’ accounts including profiles, photographs, chat, and also had the ability to post messages and mine personal information. Fortunately, these third-parties may not have realized their ability to access this information.
