With roughly three months left until the presidential election, The Wall Street Journal has had enough of Donald Trump.
In a remarkable editorial, the paper—the longtime, mainstream voice of conservatives—said that if Trump doesn’t change his tactics by Labor Day, he should drop out. And if he doesn’t alter his ways, the GOP should abandon him.
“If they [Trump supporters in the GOP] can’t get Mr. Trump to change his act by Labor Day, the GOP will have no choice but to write off the nominee as hopeless and focus on salvaging the Senate and House and other down-ballot races,” explained the editorial. “As for Mr. Trump, he needs to stop blaming everyone else and decide if he wants to behave like someone who wants to be President—or turn the nomination over to Mike Pence.”
The notion that Trump would one day become sane is laughable. This is the GOP’s great unraveling, and it’s all their fault.
