As tipped this morning to our sister publication The Hollywood Reporter, Mashable executive editor Jim Roberts and chief strategy officer Adam Ostrow have a talented new charge. Eric Korsh (pictured) has been hired to lead Mashable Studios, a new division that will create both editorial and sponsored video content.

The creation of Mashable Studios represents the company’s latest investment in expanding its premium video content offerings since raising its $17 million Series B round in January. In March, Mashable announced the addition of Mike Schmidt as its director of editorial video. Under Schmidt, Mashable is expanding its video offering to mirror the breadth and depth of editorial coverage that it provides to its 42 million monthly visitors and 23 million social media followers.
“We see branded video entertainment as core to our long-term strategy, and Eric brings a tremendous track record of both innovating for clients and creating original programming that resonates with audiences like ours,” Ostrow said.
Korsh was most recently senior vice president of brand social and content at DigitasLBi Studios. Previously, as chief operating officer of Scout Productions, he helped oversee the TV series Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, and as as a TV commercial executive producer, he has collaborated with the likes of Errol Morris and Hank Corwin.
Korsh will divide his time between New York and Los Angeles.
