Emerging free iOS apps: Tappily Ever After, Tom’s Love Letters and Card Ace: Casino

This week’s free charts showed plenty of movement, with former chart-topper Temple Run dethroned on both the iPhone and iPad charts. On the iPad, Outfit7 had a stellar No. 1 debut for its latest app, Tom’s Love Letter’s -- a Valentines Day themed addition to its growing stable of Talking Friends offerings. On the iPhone charts, new releases from Addmired, and SGN also debuted strongly. This week’s top free iPhone Apps Card Ace: Casino - Card Ace: Casino is this week’s No. 1 free app, knocking off long-time leader Temple Run from the position. A combination casino title from California-based Self Aware Games, the app includes Blackjack, Texas Hold’em Poker, Roulette, Slots and a game called Word Ace in a social, virtual casino. Players can chat, give gifts and compete for dominance of global leaderboards. Pet Town - Booyah’s new crop of games continue to perform well. The developer’s latest release, Pet Town is No. 4 this week on the free iPhone charts. Released on Jan. 19, the game is a combination of the city-building and zoo management genres. Our full review of the title can be found here. iMob 2 - Addmired’s free-to-play gangster game iMob 2 is next on our charts, sitting in the No. 8 position. A direct sequel to the developer’s former gangster game iMob, iMob 2 is a text-based RPG with heavy social integration in the form of public, real-time chat rooms. The game was released on Jan. 26 and our full review of the game can be found here. Tappily Ever After - Sequoia Capital-backed Pocket Gem’s newest game Tappily Ever After makes a solid debut in the No. 12 spot on our iPhone charts this week. The free-to-play game challenges players to build a medieval, fantasy-themed animal park around the grounds of a fairy tale castle. Dress Up! Valentines Day! - SGN slides into the No. 22 spot this week with its new game Dress Up! Valentines Day!, a Valentines-themed update on the developer’s Dress Up! series. The game is free-to-play and monetizes through the purchase of extra outfit items. Once players are satisfied with their look, they can share pictures through Facebook, email or Twitter. Dress Up! Valentines Day! was released on Jan. 17. This week’s top free iPad Apps Tom’s Love Letters - Outfit7 grabs the No. 1 spot this week on the iPad charts with its new game, Tom’s Love Letters. Released on Jan. 28 -- just in time for Valentine’s Day -- the game features Outfit7’s popular character Tom the Cat, and his female friend Angela. The app features romantic animations of Tom and Angela, and allows users to send their friends Valentines cards over Facebook, email or by text message. Happy Park HD - Kitchener, Ontario-based Infinidy Corp’s new game Happy Park HD is this week’s No. 4 free iPad app. Updated to version 1.0.1 on Jan. 19, Happy Park HD is a free-to-play title in the vein of games like Roller Coaster Tycoon. Baseball Superstars 2012 - Gamevil grabs the No. 7 spot on our roundup this week with its cute and cartoony baseball game Baseball Superstars 2012. The free-to-play game follows the story of the player’s custom built baseball team, which is on a quest to win the championship. The game supports multiplayer PVP matches, so players can have their teams compete head to head and the game’s single player story mode has multiple endings. PGA Tour HD - Sports-specific apps have proven to be popular with fans of the NHL and the NBA, so its no surprise to see the PGA release its own app. This week’s No. 18 app, PGA Tour HD does not require an additional in-app purchase to see premium content like live play-by-play coverage and live video from select PGA events. Assassin’s Creed Rearmed - Ubisoft closes our free app roundup this week with its game Assassin’s Creed Rearmed. This week’s No. 20 free iPad app, Assassin’s Creed Rearmed is a top down perspective game where players compete head to head to try to assassinate their friends before their friends assassinate them. The game was updated on Jan. 23 to add a new map, HD support for the iPAd and a new daily lottery for the game’s hard currency, diamonds.
