Tobi Apps repeats its previous chart topping success on our free iPhone apps chart. The company’s game 100 Floors is the No.1 free iPhone app for the second week in a row. The puzzle/room escape game challenges players to figure out how to escape through a series of elevators that are often activated by unusual and unintuitive means.
Independent developers lead the iPad app charts as well this week, with Derek Arndt’s — aka Battery Acid Games’ — title Highway Rider sitting in the No. 1 position. According to the game’s official App Store profile, it has already been downloaded more than 5 million times since its release on May 8, likely aided by its feature on the popular FreeAppADay service.
This week’s fastest rising app is Mountain Sheep’s Ice Rage, which rockets 74 spots up the charts to settle in at No. 19. As with Highway Rider, Ice Rage has paid for promotion on FreeAppADay, and was May 13’s free app. Ludia’s new gameshow adaptation Are Your Smarter Than a 5th Grader & Friends Free also makes a strong debut, rising 65 places on the iPhone app charts to No. 24. The game was released on May 9.
