Something is very wrong with internet service provider Earthlink today. Many subscribers have been unable to access email. Webpages hosted by the company are down. Computer World reports:
The cause of the crash was unknown. The company’s Web page was knocked offline, and its phone numbers have also apparently been disconnected. Inquiries to the company’s public relations department were not immediately returned.
We fired Earthlink as our ISP years ago because they were overpriced and their customer service was poor. Today’s events suggest the company, which pulled in $189.6 million in profit in 2008, hasn’t done enough to secure its infrastructure either.
