Earnings: A.H. Belo Loses $5.8 Mil This Quarter

Newspaper publisher A.H. Belo Corporation (AHC) reported a loss of $5.8 million dollars on revenues of $126.9 million for the third quarter of 2009. The drop in revenue was a 17.5 percent decline compared to the third quarter of 2008, but flat compared to last quarter.

Ad revenue fell another 27 percent; expenses fell almost 20 percent across the board in salaries, distribution costs, and the cost of newsprint.

Belo publishes The Dallas Morning News, the Providence Journal, the Denton Record-Chronicle, and the (Riverside, Calif.)
