Eames Office Events

Eames Office just sent out a comprehensive list of upcoming Eames-related events via their mailing list. It's LONG, so check out the entire list after the jump. One notable event: June 21, 2005 (Charles and Ray's anniversary -- a Tuesday this year) is their newly official Member Appreciation day. Eames House and the grounds will be open exclusively to them from 1 to 7 PM. A few of my siblings [ed note: Eames Demetrios, who runs the Eames Office in Santa Monica] as well as my Mom, Lucia Eames (Charles' daughter) will be guiding Members through the first floor of the House and will be available all afternoon for conversation and questions. JUNE 7-10, DENVER, COLORADO at the Denver Art Museum from 9 AM to 5 PM (for 9-12 year-olds) Carla Hartman will be teaching: Try Your Hand at Design A summer camp that begins with exploring the design of buildings, chairs, and toys made by twentieth-century architects: Gio Ponti, Charles & Ray Eames, Frank Gehry, and Daniel Libeskind and invites the kids to design their own. JUNE 9, ATHENS, GEORGIA, Georgia Museum of Art (90 Carlton St in Athens, GA) at 11 am In connection with an exhibition on contemporary prints (they have several of mine in the collection), I (Eames--I know it can get a bit confusing) will be giving a talk on my own Kymaerica.com project. JUNE 9,ATLANTA,GEORGIA, Interface Showroom in Atlanta @ 7pm. 75 Fifth Street, NW, Suite 110 (entrance on Spring St), I will be discussing the development of a new design community at interfaceFLOR.com and some of the work we've done in the past with Interface (the Eames Office Gallery carries FLOR product here in Santa Monica). I will also be screening Lucy's House. I will be dedicating a Kymaerica plaque (part of the Kymaerica.com project) AND ONE FOR JULYJuly 11-15 2005, NEW YORK, NY @ the COOPER-HEWITT SUMMER DESIGN INSTITUTE Carla will be leading 2 workshops as part of the BEST PRACTICES IN DESIGN EDUCATION. The workshops explore multiple ways to use chairs to teach design, design process, and more. View a whirlwind slide presentation of an eight-year development of chair activities and materials.
