EA Sports UFC Updated With Women’s Bantamweight Division

The update introduces Ronda Rousey and six other female fighters to the mobile fighting game.

Electronic Arts has announced a major content update for EA Sports UFC on mobile devices, introducing the women’s bantamweight division to players. Featuring seven new fighters, including division champion, Ronda Rousey, the update also offers improved graphics for all devices and a smaller download size.

The women’s bantamweight division includes seven fighters: Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm, Miesha Tate, Cat Zingano, Sara McMann, Sarah Kaufman and Liz Carmouche. As the game offers separate career ladders for each division, this update also includes 200 new levels for fighter progression in this women’s division.

EA Sports UFC launched in April 2015, offering both career levels and limited-time events relating to real-world UFC fights. Players complete fights by swiping or tapping on the screen to attack their opponent, with special abilities placed in the corner of the screen. These abilities vary between fighters, relating to each athlete’s own skills and overall style (MMA, boxing, etc.).

As players complete matches, their individual fighters level up, receiving additional abilities and submissions over time. Gamers can replay fights with stronger athletes to ensure they earn all three stars on each stage.

EA Sports UFC is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store and Google Play. During its soft launch in Canada, South Korea, Singapore and Russia, the game was downloaded over two million times in a period of two months, with users playing an average of 36 minutes each day.
