To better position itself as a place to both store and share photos, Dropbox has acquired the photo aggregation service Snapjoy for an undisclosed sum.

Snapjoy solves the problem of how to organize pictures from multiple cameras, phones, and other photo-sharing sites including Flickr, Instagram, iPhoto, and Picasa.

The startup was part of the Y Combinator accelerator program in Mountain View, CA in 2011.

Dropbox is buying the service despite a recent update of its own Android app to make it easier for users to organize their photos in the cloud.
