Donald Westlake’s The Score is the Free eBook of the Day

It’s the first of the month, and that means that the University of Chicago Press is giving away another free eBook. This month’s title is The Score.

Donald Westlake wrote The Score under the pseudonym Richard Stark in 1964. It’s one of a collection of Westlake novels that the UCP is in the process of reprinting.

Here’s an excerpt from the description: “You probably haven’t ever noticed them. But they’ve noticed you. They notice everything. That’s their job. Sitting quietly in a nondescript car outside a bank making note of the tellers’ work habits, the positions of the security guards. Lagging a few car lengths behind the Brinks truck on its daily rounds. Surreptitiously jiggling the handle of an unmarked service door at the racetrack.”

If you want the free ebook, you’ll need to provide an email address. You’ll also need an app or eReader that supports downloaded files that are encumbered with Adobe DRM.
