By now most people know that Dr. Oz is less “Dr.” and much more “Oz.” The latest group to criticize Oz’s bogus medical advice is led by Dr. Henry Miller of Stanford University. Miller and nine other doctors from across the nation want Oz removed from Columbia University’s medical faculty list.
In a letter to Lee Goldman, dean of Columbia’s Faculties of Health Sciences and Medicine, Miller wrote that Oz “has manifested an egregious lack of integrity by promoting quack treatments and cures in the interest of personal financial gain.”
“Dr. Oz has repeatedly shown disdain for science and for evidence-based medicine,” continued the letter.
Columbia responded to the letter by issuing a statement to the AP. “[Columbia University] is committed to the principle of academic freedom and to upholding faculty members’ freedom of expression for statements they make in public discussion.” Even if those statements are complete bullshit.
