Michelle Obama's #DNC2012 Speech Almost Doubles Mitt Romney's #RNC2012 Twitter Peak [STATS]

While yesterday was just the first night of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, more than three million tweets had already been posted to Twitter that included #DNC2012 and other related terms, which puts the Democrats tally already three quarters of the way to the four million tweets sent during the three days of last week’s Republican National Convention.

Even more impressively, First Lady Michelle Obama’s (@michelleobama) primetime speech reached a heady peak of 28,003 tweets per minute (TPM), which was almost double that of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s 14,289 TPM peak during his keynote in Tampa.

Twitter has outlined some additional statistics and highlights over on the official Twitter blog, including this charming (but otherwise thoroughly contrived) photo of President Obama and daughters Natasha and Malia Ann enjoying Michelle’s speech, which has been retweeted almost fifteen thousand times.
