Kongregate and Disruptor Beam have announced a publishing partnership for the mobile release of Game of Thrones Ascent on iOS and Android. Based on the HBO Show and books of George R.R. Martin, the game is already available on Facebook (our review), where it’s currently played by over 182,000 monthly active users, according to our app tracking platform AppData.
“Since the early stages of the game’s development, our intention was always to release Game of Thrones Ascent on mobile devices,” said chief executive officer and founder of Disruptor Beam, Jon Radoff.
“Now that we have had great success growing users and revenue across web platforms, we are excited to be bringing the game to mobile players. That’s what we’ve seen first-hand with Kongregate, and why we are excited about partnering with them for our mobile release, continuing to build upon this vast and passionate community of players.”
In addition to the Facebook platform, Game of Thrones Ascent is also available on the Kongregate web portal, and has been played more than 10 million times. The game allows players to create a custom character, complete quests to advance the story and interact with many storylines from the actual television show and original literary works.
“Kongregate only works with select mobile developers. The agility and skills of the developer team is often as important as the game itself, and Disruptor Beam certainly has these qualities,” added Pany Haritatos, Kongregate’s vice president of mobile.
“The success of the web version of Game of Thrones Ascent on Kongregate has revealed the tremendous depth of content, game mechanics, replay ability and authenticity that Disruptor Beam has worked hard to enhance even more in the upcoming mobile version.”
Game of Thrones Ascent will hit iOS in early Spring 2014, and will come to Android at a later date. In addition to marketing from Disruptor Beam, the game will also be promoted across the Kongregate and GameStop digital networks. Disruptor Beam and Kongregate will partner on production, analytics and app store relations for the game prior to and after its release.
