It’s time to get things started—in the kitchen. The Muppets are a starring in a pair of cooking shows.
Disney Online has rolled out two new Web series featuring Kermit, Fozzie and the gang along with Food Network veteran chef Cat Cora. Four episodes of The Muppets Kitchen with Cat Cora are now live on Disney.com. The show is primarily aimed at kids, with the hope of encouraging families to cook together, according to Paul Yanover, Disney Online’s evp and managing director.
Muppets Kitchen also feature a new character, the quirky chef Angelo.
Meanwhile, the mom-aimed Hasty Tasty Cooking Tips with Cat Cora and the Muppets has debuted on Disney’s Family.com. That show focus more on practical recipes and step-by-step cooking tips delivered by Cora.
“These show are sort of two cuts of the same thing,” said Yanover. “They are rooted in same characters and same content. But we wanted to make sure we packaged Hasty Tasty in a manner that is focused on practical tips, with Cat driving those episodes. And [Muppets Kitchen] is about fun.”
Besides Disney’s sites, both shows will be available on the Muppets YouTube channel.
Each new series contains branded entertainment elements, as Disney has landed Honda Odyssey and the National Milk Mustache “got milk?” Campaign as sponsors of the two shows. For example, besides banner ads and pre-roll spots, Disney has created custom interstitials featuring Cora, who at one point will be seen driving a Honda Odyssey to a farmers market.
