Discovery Brings Lou Diamond Phillips to DC

Move over Eric Cantor, Kevin McCarthy and Paul Ryan –  there’s an actual “Young Gun” in town. Keep your eyes peeled this week for Lou Diamond Phillips, star of films like The Big Hit, La Bamba, Young Guns and Courage Under Fire.  He’s in the District taping “An Officer and a Movie,” a new series for Discovery’s Military Channel where he sits down with military officers to discuss the real life events and themes from famous military movies.

Filmed in Silver Spring, the set resides in the former home of Ceviche restaurant which has been transformed into a studio for the show.  But fear not D.C. dwellers. If you’re hoping to catch a glimpse of the actor, you’re in luck because we hear he’s shacking up in downtown Washington.

Catch”An Officer and a Movie” beginning on April 1st at 8PM when Lou Diamond Phillips and retired Marine Col. Arthur Athens will discuss the themes behind the 1979 classic film The Great Santini.  Then tune in every Friday at 8PM for Lou other great films like Kelly’s Heroes, Hart’s War, Windtalkers, Three Kings, and The Dirty Dozen.
