Condé Nast has filled its leadership void at Details, which lost its publisher when Paul Jowdy jumped ship after just three months for the same position at Reader’s Digest Association’s Every Day With Rachael Ray.
Evp and publishing director Bill Wackermann, who oversees Details along with Glamour, promoted David Hamilton to senior executive director, from associate publisher. Meanwhile, Wackermann brought over his Glamour ad director Chris Cormier to succeed Hamilton as associate publisher.
It may not be the publisher job Wackermann originally sought to fill, but it may free him to focus on his search to replace himself as publisher of Glamour, which Adweek reported on recently. (In addition to Glamour and Details, he also oversees W and Bon Appétit.) That search continues. The Details moves also restore the structure Wackermann had in place before appointing Jowdy to the role.
On the ad front, Details is seeing some momentum. Ad pages declined about 3 percent for the first half of 2011, according to Media Industry Newsletter, but the second quarter was up 27 percent, per the publisher's estimate.
