Details for CBS News Democratic Primary Debate Are Set

Network TV's first primary debate.

CBS announced the final details of its upcoming Democratic primary debate taking place on Nov. 14 in Des Moines, Iowa, a two-hour debate that starts at 9 p.m. ET. It is the second debate for the Democratic contenders, and the first for either party to be broadcast on network television this cycle.

We’re guessing getting the details down for this debate have been a lot easier than it will be for its Feb. 13 debate, when the network will host a GOP primary debate comprised of candidates displeased with how this whole debate thing has been turning out. But that’s for another time.

While John Dickerson had already been announced as the main moderator, we know now who his fellow panelists will be. From CBS News, it is congressional correspondent Nancy Cordes, while Iowa media will be repped by KCCI anchor Kevin Cooney and Des Moines Register political columnist Kathie Obradovich. This will be something of a swan song for Cooney, who announced back in May he will be retiring from KCCI this month.

We are down to just Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and Martin O’Malley after Lincoln Chafee and Jim Webb dropped out of the race for the Democratic nomination since the first debate.

In addition to the network broadcast, the debate will be livestreamed on CBSN and CBS Radio News will cover the debates live.
