The New York Daily News is letting roughly 20 staffers take the buyout packages that it offered a few weeks ago.
A source told the New York Post that the Daily News is now “left with a very junior staff and a couple of department heads. It’s pretty much gutted.”
Making matters worse is the looming prospect of pink slips.
In the initial memo offering buyouts, Daily News editor Arthur Browne said if not enough staffers applied for buyouts, the paper would be forced to implement layoffs.
