The French eReader maker Bookeen announced yesterday that its latest and greatest eBook reader, the Cybook Odyssey, will be shipping on 22 November.
The Cybook Odyssey is based on the latest generation 6″ E-ink screen, and it has wifi, touchscreen, SD card slot, a web browser, and it’s running on an 800MHz Cortex A8 CPU.
Bookeen has been teasing us with hints of this eReader for some months now. It’s posted a number of videos showing improvements it’s made to its prototypes, and it has even shown video and smooth scrolling in a web browser.
Bookeen will be matching the European price of the Sony Reader Wifi, with the Cybook Odyssey to cost eReader lovers €149. The new eReader will go up for pre-order on the Bookeen website on 10 November and it will ship on November 28th.
That price is a tad expensive for the European market given that the Kobo Touch is up for pre-order at €129 at Fnac, and that the Kindle is selling for €99 direct from Amazon. But it’s not entirely outside the range of what consumers are willing to spend.
