CQ Roll Call has hired Ed Pesce in a new role as senior legislative analyst. To accompany the new position, Pesce will go to work on a new CQ product, Senate Action Reports (SAR).
SAR is both a site and newsletter that is similar in scope to CQ’s House Action Reports, and will provide information and analysis on Senate legislation and players.
Pesce is ideally suited to this role, considering he just retired in February from his position as director of the Senate Periodical Press Gallery, where he had worked for 25 years, more than 15 of those as director. The Press Gallery provides reporters with information on all things Senate–past and present–and connects reporters with Senate staff and members, among other functions.
“We are thrilled to have Ed joining us. There’s no one better placed to explain the sometime arcane ways of the Senate than a man whose reputation for fairness and innovation attracts bipartisan praise from the chamber’s top two leaders,” said CQ Roll Call chief content officer David Ellis in a statement.
When Pesce retired from the Press Gallery, he received a sendoff from the Senate floor, where both Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid praised Pesce.
