Continuum Books Opens its Own eBookstore

The academic publisher Continuum Books has decided to launch its own eBookstore.

The eBookstore is currently open to individual customers, with the publisher planning to offer packages aimed at institutional buyers by the end of June. Around 2 thousand titles are available now, and the total should grow to around 3,500 by the end of June. Continuum expects to have all its future releases available in the eBookstore, and the publisher is currently working on a conversion project to make a large number of the backlist titles available.

Prices are about what you’d expect from an academic publisher. Supported formats include Epub and PDF, and the DRM situation is not clear. According to the FAQ, all eBooks will be encumbered by Adobe DE DRM. But some of the book listings mention using Adobe Reader for the PDFs, not Adobe DE. This is a wholly different set of DRM.
