“Consumer” Doesn’t Have to Be a Bad Word

We got word today of Three Layer Cake‘s new series about something you’re apt to be hearing about a lot more in the near future: Meaningful/Emotional Consumption. It’s a focus in trend forecasting that’s not only interested in figuring out what we fickle creatures are going to be wanting in the next decade, but also deciding how to work that want into something that’s actually of lasting significance, will depend more on the meaning than the materialism, and give back as much as it delivers. All sounds pretty complicated, if not impossible, eh? The site aims to take the edge off of it with both this primer and then, the first in a ten part series, a really interesting interview with Anne Lise Kjaer, the founder of a company who is at the forefront of all of this. We look forward to reading more.
