Colombian media conglomerate Casa Editorial El Tiempo has turned to Crisp Wireless to launch El Tiempo Mobile, the first mobile news site in Latin America.
For Crisp, the partnership marks the first time it’s powered a mobile site for the Hispanic community.
The two are working to develop and brand the El Tiempo mobile site for Colombia as well as the rest of Latin America and the US. According to the companies, 33.5 million Colombians subscribe to mobile services, presenting an impressive potential audience for the mobile news site.
“Eltiempo.com is the leading online destination in Colombia with 5.5 million unique visitors per month. However the use of mobile in Colombia far exceeds the approximate 10 million Internet users in the country,” Juan Felipe Castano, content portals director of El Tiempo, said in a statement. “We wanted to make it easier for readers to access our content not only in Colombia, but throughout Latin America and in the United States.”
