Colby Itkowitz to Washington Post’s Inspired Life

She comes from In the Loop column.

The Washington Post’s In the Loop co-columnist, Colby Itkowitz, is leaving her current position to write for the Post’s Inspired Life blog.

“We are thrilled that Colby has agreed to be the lead writer and anchor for the Inspired Life Blog,” wrote the Post’s social issues editor Sydney Trent, local editor Mike Semel and deputy local editor Monica Norton.

In 2014, Itkowitz left Pennsylvania’s Morning Call, where she gained notoriety for her coverage of Arlen Specter’s Senate battle, to co-write In the Loop with Al Kamen. Before that, she covered transportation for Congressional Quarterly.

Inspired Life, the Post’s inspirational blog, is a notable change of pace for the writer but that should be no problem for Itkowitz, who has covered both hard and soft news with aplomb.

“She wrote about Sen. Dan Coats beginning his opening remarks and then realizing he was in the wrong hearing. She used congressional record data to determine that Democrats weren’t mentioning President Obama by name as often on the floor,” the editors wrote. “Her versatility will serve her well as we  grow Inspired Life.”

Congratulations, Colby!
