The Presidential campaign on Mediabistro golden boa-award winner Stephen Colbert (Who will be covered by the good folks at Doritos) is set for go. This morning, Colbert filed the $2,500 fee for the South Carolina primary with a crisp personal check. One last hurdle awaits. From The Politico:
”The executive committee has scheduled a 1 p.m. meeting to decide which prospective presidential candidates will make the ballot.
”The executive committee will have to decide whether they consider Colbert, the host of the popular faux-news program ‘The Colbert Report’ on Comedy Central, to be a bona fide Democrat who is nationally viable and has spent time campaigning in the state.”
Colbert had planned to run in both the Republican and Democratic primaries but a source told CNN that the $35,000 fee for the Republican primary in the Palmetto state priced them out.
