Eric Marrapodi is joining NBC News as the senior producer of NBC Nightly News in the Washington bureau. Marrapodi is coming to NBC News from CNN, where he has been for the past decade, most recently as the senior Washington producer.
“Eric is an award-winning journalist whose intimate knowledge of Washington, politics and policy will be especially valuable as the election year heats up,” wrote NBC Nightly News executive producer Sam Singal in a memo to staff, adding that Marrapodi “will be a valued partner to our top correspondents and editorial leaders as we work together to shape smart, compelling, and essential coverage of Washington, government, and the campaign trail.”
Marrapodi’s work has not been exclusive to politics and elections, however. While at CNN, he also served as the founding co-editor of CNN’s Belief blog, which, as the name indicates, covers religion and faith. He has covered international events as well, including reporting on the ground after Haiti’s 2010 earthquake.
He starts next Monday.
