CNN Announces Its All-Day/All-Night Convention Coverage Plans

Did you expect otherwise?

Not planning to sleep during the Republican and Democratic National Conventions? Neither is CNN. The network’s plans for the upcoming spectacles will span all the hours in a day, and the next day, and the next day–you understand how this pattern works.

Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper, Jake Tapper, Dana Bash and Chris Cuomo will be the weeknight anchors for evening convention programming, dubbed America’s Choice 2016, and Don Lemon gets the anchor late shift.

And there will be enough anchors, analysts and reporters on site that, if it wanted to, CNN could create multiple baseball teams. But it won’t, because everyone will be in convention mode the whole time. And that time begins not on Sunday, but the Saturday before each convention begins.

Coverage will be available on CNN, CNN International, CNN en Español and CNN Digital as well as Snapchat and Facebook live. CNN International, CNN en Español and CNN Digital will provide channel/platform-specific original programming and reporting.

And in addition to its multiple locations within the convention halls, the network is setting up its own bases outside the halls. Known as the CNN Grill, the spaces, one for each convention, will offer drink and food to accompany the hours of talk.
