Clash of Clans developer Supercell sells majority stake to Softbank, GungHo

Clash of Clans developer Supercell has announced a partnership with Japanese telecoms firm Softbank and Puzzle & Dragons developer GungHo Online Entertainment, resulting in the sale of a 51 percent stake in the company worth $1.5 billion.

The news comes from a blog post by Supercell CEO Ilkka Paananen, which expresses the company’s excitement and vision for the future.

“At Supercell, one of our greatest aspirations is to become the first truly global games company, one that has a strong foothold in both the West and the East, including Japan, Korea and China,” said Paananen.
