Univision announced yesterday that it has named Chiqui Cartagena as vice president of its Political and Advocacy Group. As of yesterday afternoon, she will report to Joe DelGrosso, executive vice president of political and advocacy sales.
“Since joining Univision four years ago Chiqui has made significant contributions to the Company, which coupled with her extensive marketing experience and understanding and passion for the community we serve, makes her ideal to join our Political and Advocacy team in our efforts to drive understanding and engagement with this important constituency while giving access to the information and resources that will empower Hispanics in the U.S.,” said DelGrosso in a press release.
Cartagena, a graduate of the University of Miami (let’s go Canes!), will remain based in New York, but will work closely with Univision in Washington DC. She will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to political candidates and advocacy organizations in reaching and engaging with the Hispanic community.
“As we’ve seen in recent elections, the political force of Latino voters continues to grow and their impact on local, state and national politics is only expected to increase,” said Cartagena. “I am looking forward to working with political and advocacy partners to elevate the understanding of this community and the issues that are important to them, especially as we head toward the 2016 presidential election cycle.”
