The iPhone 4S release has been delayed in China, and shoppers inBejing did not take the news lightly. The would-be Apple customers got the news after waiting in lines outside of Apple Inc’s flagship store and responded by throwing eggs and pushing and shoving.
The Montreal Gaezette has more: “An announcer with a bullhorn told the Sanlitun store crowd around 7 a.m., before sunrise, that the phones would not go on sale as planned and that they should leave. As the crowd became more unruly, scuffles broke out between security staff and shoppers, many of whom had waited overnight in freezing weather. Police moved in and dragged some people away.”
Apple has responded by stopping retail sales of the new phones in Apple stores in China. The company is only selling them through partners and online.
