Perhaps you are sick of politicians telling you how bad or not so bad the economy is. For citizens who would like to learn about the state of the economy with less of an agenda, the Census Bureau has released America’s Economy app.
The free app, which is the first from the organization, lets you measure the state of the economy in real time based on 16 key economic indicators released from the U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and Bureau of Economic Analysis. This includes important statistics about employment, manufacturing, international trade, retail sales, and residential construction and sales.
Using the app, you can chart these indicators to assess economic trends and try to get a picture of how the economy is doing. Census Bureau Director Robert Groves explained to Reuters, “The release of this app is an example of our commitment to giving taxpayers faster and easier access to the statistics we produce, including the Economic Census, that impact the lives of all Americans.”
The app is currently available for Android devices, but an iOS version is coming soon.
